Mission: The five lakes on at Blues Skies are a valuable asset to our community. The mission of the BSTW Fishing Club is to assist in protecting these valuable assets and enhancing the fishing opportunities for all residents, now and for the future. We monitor each lake’s condition and have a year-round fish feeding program.
Our lakes are teeming with good size bass and bluegills. Any BSTW resident, their guests, and especially their grandchildren, may fish in any of the BSTW lakes year-round. Anyone fishing under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Fishing is permitted only from dawn till dusk. A Fishing License is not required. You do not have to be a member of the BSTW Fishing Club, but you are encouraged to join. Share photos of your catches with your fellow residents.
“Catch and release” is recommended, using barbless hooks. But residents are free to keep and eat the fish if they’d like. Species size limits are posted at the lakes. The BSTW Fishing Club will be happy to provide more information, fishing tackle, and assistance to any resident, especially those with special needs or physical limitations.
Safety is a primary concern. All fishing activities are at your own risk. It is recommended that you always fish with a companion or that you bring your emergency call button with you. Banks can be slippery, and care must be taken when walking or standing near the water. Look down! Watch where you step. Keep an eye out for snakes!

RESULTS OF MAY 2023 BSTW FISHING DERBY By Layne Perelli
After a night of torrential downpours and booming thunder, the Fishing Club was reluctantly right on the verge of cancelling the event. But providence prevailed and the rain stopped just in time to let our Derby get under way at 7:00 am Saturday morning. We had excellent conditions for the rest of the day, and everyone participating said they really enjoyed the outing.
During the Derby our intrepid anglers caught a total of 21 Bass and 14 fiesty Blue Gill. Tallah Orr, 12, won the prize for the most Blue Gill caught, 5. Her proud father, Arnold, works in The Maintenance Department at Blue Skies East. But the Garza family just about emptied the Lake! Eddy Garza, who works in the physical therapy clinic in Blue Skies West, has done a superb job of teaching his kids to fish. And appropriately, he says he learned his skills from his father. His daughter, Emily, just 8, caught the largest Blue Gill, a whopping 10 inches! Her brother, Andy, 11, caught the largest Bass, a scrappy little 12 1/2 incher. AND he hauled in the most total fish, 14. Hearty congratulations to all of our up and coming anglers.
Thanks to BSTW Fishing Club members Al Buie, Ron Miller, Jim Conner, Charlie Michel, Frank Jackson, Chuck Hobbs, Russ McCarthy, and Ralph Kelly, and to our photographer, Dottie Conner, for their help in making the Tournament an outstanding success. And special thanks to the Maintenance Department for providing clean lakes and the much needed support equipment.
