Activity Name: Wheelmen Cycling Club

Mission: To sponsor the sport of cycling, to help those interested in cycling and to hold club rides.

Fees:  Annual dues are $10. The Club  accepts new members throughout the year.  Put $10 in an envelope in internal mail to Jim Byrd.  Include name, phone, cell, email address, and Apt #.  If you have any questions, contact Mike Fox

Meetings:  None.  There is an annual picnic.

 

Rules: Riders must wear a helmet.   

      
Location: The bike room is located in the lower level of Tower 3, near the Fitness Room. There is an annex in the Vista (B Wing, Room 13) to hold the overflow from the bike room. 

Club Ride Programs: The Club offers 2 bike rides on Mondays. One ride will start at the flagpole and will stay on campus for 10 miles. The 2nd ride will also start at the flagpole, but this ride will go off campus for 20 or more miles.  Often there will be a breakfast stop halfway

 

Rides start between 7:30 AM and  8.30 AM depending on the season.  Ride length is adjusted to the number of miles the riders agree to.   Ride leaders often change this schedule to meet conditions.  If this is your first ride, contact the ride leader to answer your questions and for start times.

Bike Repair:  The bike club can help you fix flat tires and do minor maintenance.  There’s no need to take your bike to a bike shop and  pay to get this done.  If needed, we will show you how to repair your flat.   Contact Mike Fox with questions and to set an appointment.

 

The club has many specialized tools for maintaining bikes in the bike room in the Lower Level of Tower 3.  There is a bike stand for maintaining bikes. There are many specialized tools. There’s a wheel truing stand. There are supplies for fixing flat tires. There is a cupboard full of high-quality used bike equipment; this includes helmets, pedals, seats, inner tubes and saddle bags.  If you have questions, call or drop a line to Mike Fox (see resident roster).
